Pet's Story or Bio
Oliver is a 12 year old beagle who has been the greatest companion.
He's the most well tempered beagle and rarely howls or barks. As long as he's getting attention, he doesn't care is you're scratching his belly, dressing him up in costumes, or trimming his nails--it's all the same to him.
He has quite the personality. At times he's really more of a cat because he turns his nose up at you when you try to make him "fetch"and only wants meat flavored treats; he spits other flavors out.
Oliver is the best snuggler. He often asks to be the "little spoon" by pawing at the covers so he can curl under them and lay next to you.
This past year has been tough.
Last summer he was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer after a growth was found on his upper lip. It was removed with clean margins leaving him with a crooked smile and cancer free up until two months ago.
His cancer spread to the lymph node under his jaw. The lymph node was removed and he was started on treatment that will hopefully extend his life but it's only buying us limited time. His cancer will ultimately spread to his lungs and there won't be any other treatment options left.
Throughout this process he has remained the same "bagel" I've known and loved for 12 years. He has not slowed down for a minute despite the cards being stacked against him.
As the time we have left continues to wind down, he's enjoying more walks, bike rides, and his own portion of steak whenever there's a cookout.
He's spoiled rotten and is surrounded by so much love (as a once in a lifetime dog should be.)
I'm also seizing any opportunity I can to let as many people know the impact his spirit has had on me and those around him.
Through the good and bad he's been there and I wish to commemorate him in as many ways as possible.
