Pet's Story or Bio
Both cats were homeless, strays. Itty Bitty, black with taupe colored back paw, had an especially sad start. A friend of a friend was feeding a lot of strays, Itty's mother being one of them. She had just recently given birth to a litter. The kittens were less than 8 weeks old. The neighbor's pit bull got loose and killed most of Itty's siblings. The pit bull had Itty and her brother in its mouth. The mother jumped in front of the dog who dropped the two young kittens and then killed the mother. Itty was injured and could not walk for a while. My friend who does animal rescue took the kittens in, cared for them and brought them back into good health. I adopted Itty when she was six months old. She only weighed three pounds. She used to wake me up at night by tapping my nose with her paw and meowing. A friend told me that with my being still while sleeping, she was probably checking to make sure I was still alive since she had witnessed the death of so many. This picture is of her happy and safe in another x-stray's arms. Itty is now three years old, no longer stunted growth, about 8 pounds of sheer play. You would never know her rough beginning by how she leaps around now. She still wakes me up sometimes, but it usually in the mornings when she feels like I have slept too long and it's time to play.
