Pet's Story or Bio
Pops was known as Popsicle when he arrived at HSSV, a 9 lb stray (his proper weight is 15 lbs!) I work as a volunteer and fell in love with Pops and was very excited to introduce him to a family who took him home. The next week I came back for my volunteer shift and found that Pops had been returned! I thought that maybe there was more going on and requested to take him home and "foster" him.

Well there certainly was more going on. Pops had no house manners, resource guarded just about everything and was very growly and nippy. We knew that we had some training to do and on top of that we discovered that Pops had pain in his back caused by IVDD. Our wonderful HSSV vet, Dr. Berger, performed acupuncture on his back and suddenly Pops wasn't so growly or nippy!

Now, don't get me wrong, Pops certainly has a spicy personality - that is why he was renamed Jalapeno "Pops" Popper. My husband and I thought that his unique personality fit right in with our crazy family and we ended up becoming a foster fail!

Pops now receives acupuncture once a month to keep his back in check. He is also the favorite in the neighborhood, he rolls over onto his back and has all the neighborhood kids rubbing his belly - no one can believe he is the same dog. I love him more than words can convey! Adopting rescues and working through their issues with them creates an unforgettable bond! #adoptdontshop
