A police officer found Bless in a ditch alongside a road. She had been hit by a car, one of her rear legs broken, and she had sustained internal injuries. What no one knew was the level of fear she felt toward people. She tried to "run" away from the very ones who were trying to help her. It was a challenge for shelter employees to provide the medical care she needed. After many, many months of learning to trust a couple people, including me, I agreed to foster her since the shelter was overcrowded. And, as can often happen with fostered pets, she became my permanent adopted friend a few months later. P.S. She was 30 lbs when she was found on that road and now she weighs a healthy 60 lbs.
