Your Pet's Story
Rocky (formerly Rocko) was a real hard luck case. In his 3 years of life, he had been surrendered to shelters twice by his previous families, and he had been at the Nashua shelter several months, longer than any dog there. We were looking for a dog to help us cope with the impending loss of our dear older shepherd/collie Louie to cancer. We wanted to rescue a really needy dog - Louie came to us from Louisiana after being abandoned by his family during Hurricane Katrina, and he was so special to us that we wanted to give another hurting dog that chance at a wonderful life. So we took Rocky, and are we ever glad we did, because he has thrived. Louie lived longer than expected, so "the boys" grew close. When Louie passed last April, Rocky was here for us - our sweet, goofy, happy beagle/Bassett!
