Your Pet's Story
We had a chance encounter with Bear while looking at other shelter dogs. He won us over immediately, but wasn't ready for adoption because he had arrived with a G.I. bug and a bad limp. We knew that Bear belonged in our family, so we started visiting him daily.

An X-Ray determined that Bear limped because of a painful birth defect--a leg bone too short to reach its socket. The options were expensive surgery to extend the bone, or amputation (which might be necessary anyway). We decided to try to save his leg. We were unsure how to pay for the operation and a bit overwhelmed, when we were told that the HSGN Abby fund would cover it. Now, "Charlie Bear" is the fastest and highest jumping member of our family. He's modeling his improved leg in this photo!
