Pet's Bio or Adoption Story
Izzy is my foster dog from The SPCA of Texas in Dallas. It was not love at first sight with Izzy and I had been volunteering ever since she was surrendered to us because her previous owner had passed away. When she first arrived to the shelter, she was very timid and shy. Time passed and she continued to be overlooked by potential adopters. Not because of her fearfulness, but actually because of the opposite. Izzy did not adjust well to the shelter life. Her extended stay had forced her to become reactive to other dogs, mouthy, jumpy, barking- everything that screamed stress and anxiety. Volunteers were even hesitant to work with her and I myself was too.

My fiancé and I had fostered multiple SPCA dogs before. All who are now adopted. A time came where the foster program reached out to me with a list of dogs who could benefit from some time out of the shelter. Of course, Izzy was on the list!

I took the chance on Izzy because I couldn't stand to watch her become good at getting naughty being in the shelter. She needed to feel safe and to release stress in the home environment. I still remember the first day I brought her home. Immediately she realized where she was and within minutes, she was an entirely different dog!

We have now been fostering Izzy for almost 2 months and she is the most well-behaved dogs! She loves people and loves to cuddle with us and go on long walks!! She's house trained and her favorite hobby is looking out our windows to watch cars drive by and people walking. So, we make sure we leave the blinds open for her. Izzy has changed our lives and is an amazing companion. I am so glad we took the chance on her and brought her into our home as we work tirelessly to find her a permanent home! She will never have to see the inside of a shelter again.
