Why is your dog a hero?
In 2021, my grandfather who was my stand in father passed away unexpectedly. My husband knew my grandfather and I had a deep love of dogs and offered for us to get a puppy. As soon as I held her for the first time all of my anger from my grief disappeared and I felt a newfound purpose for caring for Sydney. She is so caring and makes everyone she meets feel special. We often have to lie when people ask “does she do this for everyone?” She has a deep empathy for people and knows when someone is going through it - all she has to do is jump up on their lap and give a big lick. She always reminded me a lot of my grandpa who was also so charismatic and made friends everywhere he went. So you can imagine our shock when, months later, we found out that Sydney actually had the same birth date as my grandpa. I believe she was his last gift to me and continues to be a gift to everyone in her path.
