Why is your dog a hero?
This dog is more than my companion, he is a security alarm, a thunder buddy, my personal emotional support dog, a good listener, and when needed a shoulder to cry on. I got him as a puppy and through my journey on the department he has grown with me. He was there during my drill tower on hard days and on probation to help me study at night. Now at my new assignment he has gone with me and is welcomed by the fellas like a member of the shift. Sadly he just had a costly eye surgery and to my surprise the shift came together to help us out, taking extra shifts for me so I could help him get through it. Even my captains have sent homemade doggie treats for him. He is MY Hero.
