Hope 4 Horses changed our lives forever.

Ted Oliver “Teddy” - 7-year-old OTTB

I found Hope 4 Horses through a random Google search while looking for a horse for my 13-year-old daughter. I met Anita, the then Executive Director for Hope 4 Horses, a week later. Anita introduced me to Ted Oliver (Teddy), a mellow, easygoing, good-minded OTTB who had recently come into the rescue.

My first interaction with Teddy was in the round pen at Hope 4 Horses. Within the first five minutes, Teddy was following me around like a puppy. I applied to adopt him on the spot.

Teddy is a seasoned racehorse with 34 starts, 7 wins, 7 places, and 7 shows under his belt. He may have been a good racehorse—but Teddy is an even better “kid” horse. Teddy and my daughter, Gracie, are a wonderful team. Teddy will do anything Gracie asks of him!

Teddy has taught us to never judge a book by its cover. Teddy lives with us in Auburn, CA, where Gracie rides Teddy in Hunter, Dressage, and Equitation Classes. They have won many ribbons together! When they are not in the show ring, Gracie and Teddy explore the Western States trails together. Teddy will happily go through streams, rivers, up hills, and over mountains. Deer and turkey don’t phase him at all. Teddy is a very special guy and we are so blessed to have him!
