Adoption Story
Maverick (blonde) and Chester were both adopted from HAL in 2020. Maverick was a puppy mill rescue from Lancaster used solely for breeding and kept in a rabbit crate most of his life. He was extremely malnourished, and both his back legs had luxated patellas. Maverick didn’t know how to be a dog so when the foster mom received Chester as a puppy a few months later, she knew he would be the perfect brother for Maverick. Chester was turned into ACCT Philly because he had parvovirus. His sister unfortunately died on the way to the hospital, but Chester made a full recovery. The two of them are inseparable and have an amazing bond. It’s been a long journey, especially for Maverick, but their transformation has been remarkable! Since Chester did not look like a “Goose,” we named him after Chester Nimitz, to keep the Navy theme.
