Treasure to Hickman County because...
This photograph was taken in our backyard during a get together this past year. An out of town friend captured this moment of her girls playing in the pool to escape the heat of the evening. We were blessed to move here only 4 years ago, but this place and the people who live here have now made this is our home. I believe that the water is at the heart of what makes Hickman County. The water is so good that we actually have a town that's named to that effect. These clean spring pools have provided the lifeblood for some infamously fine corn liquor that for some folks was the only means of providing for their families during Prohibition, however; at the hands of a preacher man, that same water has washed the burden of sin from the hearts and desperate tears from the faces of the faithful at many a late summer revival baptism. The sulfur springs hidden deep in these mountains were healing waters to those that had no access to conventional hospitals and those same springs keep the insects at bay while you count stars that look so close that you could reach out and touch them. The hymns of the ages echo through the fields and valleys of this wild and beautiful country and they can be heard in the roar of the many waterfalls scattered therein. To visit Hickman County is a privilege, but to live here is truly an honor.
