My extra-toed, big-pawed, big-hearted buddy, my world was better for almost 19 years knowing S.S. would welcome me when I got home. We went through a lot together and somehow survived it all. We said goodbye on a quiet Colorado evening, overlooking a lake, his head resting against my arm, his spirit forever in my heart.
