A little about me...
Shailene is one of our special rescues in our heartworm slow-kill treatment program. She came to us via a rescue that couldn't manage her care. Shae is a handful and I can't imagine doing the traditional arsenic/steroid/cage confinement treatment as she loves to run and play in her foster home. Sadly, recent testing shows she is also fighting Lyme disease, but our treatment program assumes there is underlying tick borne disease. Sometimes because they are fighting so much, their immune system can't produce antibodies for infection. Her foster mom, Maggie, God love her, has been working through her houndie antics as Shae will let her know anytime someone is walking by the house. There is nothing like a Coonhound bay!!!
