- Photos and voting will be accepted on the contest website from 9:00am EST April 2, 2020 until April 30, 2020 at 8:00pm EST.
- One entry per pet.
- One pet per photo, per submission.
- For multiple pets, please make separate submissions.
- Each submission "fee" is $20 each. This is eligible for a tax receipt and 20 votes towards the pet submitted.
- Submission in loving memory of a pet are welcome, it is a great way to honour their legacy. In memory photos will be included on our ‘Honourable Mentions' page in the calendar, but unfortunately they will be ineligible to win (despite the value raised).
- The 12 winners with the highest number of votes will be asked to bring their pet to the Guelph Humane Society, 500 Wellington St. W., Guelph, ON, in order to have their pictures taken on Saturday, June 13 (subject to change due to COVID-19 updates) with Nicole Buzzing Photography! Please see the prize page for slotted time for winners.
- Please note that pets are required to be physically available to attend the photoshoot at 500 Wellington St. W., in Guelph on Saturday, June 13, 2020. (Subject to change, due to COVID-19. If date is changed, we will work with winners to find a mutually agreeable date or another option at GHS's discretion).
- The voting will end at 8:00pm Thursday, April 30, 2020.
- Owners must accompany their pet during their photo shoot with Nicole Buzzing.
- If there is a tie in votes for any of the top 12 spots, the tie breaker will be determined by the individual who submitted their entry first and this will be displayed accordingly on the home page under the Leaderboard. The pets who are displayed as the top 12 at the end of the competition on the home page under the leaderboard will be the final winners.
- Votes are $1 each. $20 will count for 20 Votes and $50 will count for 50 Votes, etc.
- Photos become the property of the Guelph Humane Society. By submitting a photo entry, you warrant and represent that your entry is your own original work created by you and that you own or otherwise control all of the rights to your entry materials. Guelph Humane Society reserves the right to disqualify at any time any photo it determines to be unsuitable. If you submit an entry that is copyrighted by another individual, you are responsible for any legal action the copyright holder takes against you. You agree to indemnify Guelph Humane Society and hold them harmless from and against any claims of any nature arising in connection with the Guelph Humane Society Calendar Photo Contest. Entrants grant Guelph Humane Society all rights of ownership, reproduction and royalty-free indiscriminate use of entries and photographs for any purpose. By submitting a photo to the Guelph Humane Society Calendar Photo Contest, the artist agrees to give and grant to Guelph Humane Society, its employees, nominees, agents, successors and assigns, unlimited authorization, consent and permission to publish and use, any and all information about the animal and any and all reproductions of animal's likeness (photographic or otherwise), and with or without the use or disclosure of guardian's name.
When submitting your pet's photo for voting, please keep in mind city bylaws and leash laws and keep your pets safe:
- Dogs are recommended to be shown wearing a collar and ID tag.
- Cats outdoors should be in a safe environment (preferably in an enclosure/ catio or with a harness on) wearing a collar and ID tag.
- Domestic birds and other small animals are recommended to be only photographed indoors.
