About Us

Great Pyrenees Rescue Society (GPRS) is a Texas, volunteer based 501c3 that has been saving Great Pyrenees and Pyrenees mixes since 2006. We rescue, rehabilitate, and find homes for hundreds of Pyrenees a year.

Nationwide, rescues are in crisis with the number of dogs being abandoned and surrendered. States like Texas at the forefront of this crisis. While adoptions have slowed, the need has not and we are overflowing with Great Pyrenees and Pyr mixes requiring specialized medical care as well as routine spaying and neutering. Shelters throughout Texas are full, and some are refusing intake which makes rescues like GPRS even more essential to fill the gap whenever we can.

Medical care, especially orthopedic surgeries can range in cost from hundreds to thousands of dollars. Each dog that comes into rescue receives life-saving or routine medical care depending on need. They are then placed either in our kennels or with a foster home in Texas, Oregon or Washington to await their furrever homes.

There are so many loving and deserving Great Pyrenees in Texas that are waiting for their second chance at a good life. We always need temporary and long-term fosters as well as volunteers and donations. Help us help them. We cannot do it without you.
