“Leonard wandered lonely as a cloud...” (2017 Gifford adoption)

An ode to a famous Wordsworth poem was the intro to Leonard’s Gifford bio. As a new-grad English major, I was drawn to the poetic allegory of how he wandered onto Gifford property, and as an animal-lover I was drawn to his playful nature as I spent nearly every night watching his antics via live-stream. In our first meeting, he was as anxious as I was, but completely gentle despite his timidity. I understood him immediately, an anxious person myself, and though it took nearly 6 months before he was ready to greet me from his hiding spot under the bed, the patience has been worth every bit of his affection.

Leonard now accompanies me through sleepy and sleepless nights as I pursue my Master’s degree as a PA student, and curls against my chest when I finally do find time to sleep. I grew up with many wonderful cats in my childhood, but he is by far the sweetest and most loving of any I have encountered to date. Even if he doesn’t win the contest, he is forever the cutest boy in my heart!
