The Guelph Humane Society (GHS) has been providing care for animals in need since 1893. Each year, we serve approximately 3,000 homeless, stray, injured, orphaned, abandoned, and abused animals throughout Guelph and Wellington County. We provide animal sheltering, surrender services, adoption, pet identification services, and more to these communities. GHS helped to reunite over 300 pets with their family last year alone. All cats and dogs that come into our care are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and receive any medical treatment needed before finding their forever home. We are not government funded so we could not do this without the generous donations from our community.
Our Wildlife program is completely funded by generous donors. Your gift helps provide the initial care and treatment wild animals in our community need before they are transferred to licensed rehabilitation centers. In 2018, the GHS was honoured to receive a Leadership & Innovation Award from Humane Canada for our work with wildlife in our community. A special thank you to the Summerlee Foundation for their generous grant, supporting the GHS wildlife program, and helping vulnerable animals who have no one else.
