Why there is "No Place Like Home"
Winifred found me five years ago after being rescued by Oakland Animal Services. During the Pandemic the line between home and work became blurred when we were required to turn our living room into my office. It would have been easy for me to get lost in my job and not maintain the work/life balance we all strive for...except that Winfred will never let that happen. Every day, right around 5pm, Winifred gets up from her all-day nap, enjoys a leisurely stretch and a drink of water, and then proceeds to stare at me and thump her tail until I close my laptop. It’s a special stare, a stare that says “It’s time to be done with work and time to focus on me”. She holds me accountable to taking care of her, and without knowing it, she holds me accountable to taking care of me.
