My Dog's Story
Found as a stray, I was brought to Mahoning County Dog Pound on Halloween, 2012. Seemed to be more of a trick than a treat at the time. I was emaciated when I was brought in, and I was cold (I don't have much fur, I'm sort of a four legged crew cut) shy, and scared in the pound environment. The nice volunteers (one in particular, you know who you are... Kim) of Friends of Fido got me sweaters and blankets, they cuddled me, and got me to a doctor. The doctor made sure I was healthy, gave me vaccines, and also took some very personal things from me (you know what I mean). The next thing you know, I was adopted by a nice young family. Unfortunately, as much as we liked each other, it wasn't really working out. But then, there was a God wink. A relative of my adopted family was friends with a couple who had just begun searching for a dog to complete their family. Contact info was exchanged, visits were arranged, and the next thing you know, BAM!, I was adopted for a second time. And this time it took. I fit right in, almost like it was destined from the start. I provide security for the family, and in return I have 3 beds, my own fireplace, a mountain of toys, and the greatest front porch in the world to lounge on in the summer. I go for lots of rides, have been on vacation to Chicago and West Virginia, and I have from one to five boys of various ages to play with depending on time of day or day of the week. I packed on 20 pounds, and nobody would say I'm shy or scared anymore. I even have my own Facebook page! I hesitate to think what might have happened had I not been brought in from the cold when I was, and I owe all a huge debt of gratitude to the fine folks at MCDP and the volunteers of Friends of Fido. That is why I've entered this contest, and hope to win. Yes, voting for me costs a dollar, but all the proceeds benefit Friends of Fido, and that is the only way I can pay it forward since my job doesn't pay in cash. And even if it did, I don't have a wallet. And if I had a wallet, I'd have no place to keep it, because I don't wear pants. No pants, no pocket for a wallet. So, help a guy out, be my bankroll for Friends of Fido; as I learned on my visit to Chicago, vote early, vote often.
Make me your Calendar Dog. It's a win win in my book, and I'll bet you'll feel good about it too!
Thanks,
Love and Peace Out,
Charlie (aka Friends of Fido Achilles)
