We are the voice for over a 1,000 dogs a year at the Mahoning County Dog Pound.
Friends of Fido, Inc. is committed to assist the rescue of dogs from Mahoning County Dog Pound, Youngstown, OH. We accomplish this by fundraising , the public education of responsible pet ownership, and promoting spay/neuter programs. We utilize funds to supply necessary medical care, veterinary and other expenses to give dogs a well deserved second chance at life. We financially assist local animal rescues who are willing to pull dogs from the Pound and ultimately find a forever home for them. Our primary goals are twofold- to eliminate the need to euthanize homeless dogs; and to develop a network of supporters and volunteers to endorse our mission and support/achieve our goals.
Below, you’ll find a list of just some of the things we do...
- We walk and socialize the dogs on a daily basis-365 days a year!
- We pay for spay/neuter, DHLLP, hw test, rabies, bordatella so dogs can go to a rescue ($125)
- We pay for heartworm treatment for dogs that need treatment.
- We pay for pull fees.
- We pay for dogs that go to the vet when they are sick.
- We have given money to local rescues that pull dogs from the Mahoning county dog pound.
- We have paid for gas cards and helped transport the dogs so they can go to their forever homes.
- We have paid for boarding while the dogs wait for transport.
- We have provided food for local rescues for our dogs.
- WE LOVE THE DOGS!
