What makes me special
Tootsie, our Cleveland's City Dog 2023 alumni, came to us initially as a foster. Before becoming volunteers at City Dogs, we only knew what the media told us about pit bulls. We never considered owning a pit since hearing of their aggressive behavior. That is until the kennel became full in the summer of 2023.

Having a 15-pound Cavapoo named Peggy at home, our family decided it was our shared responsibility to help a Cleveland dog in need. It took our family one hour to fall in love with this discarded, older black pit bull mix. These ladies are complete opposites, yet totally inseparable.

We were sure she was part black lab because of her sweet soft personality, only to have her DNA prove she is a true pit mix! Tootsie changed countless people's fears of her breed and she deserves to be a calendar girl!
