Joyce Gatta is a Rhode Island watercolor artist, who has always had a passion for color and has been painting ever since she was a little girl. She credits her 91 year old mother, who still paints every day, with instilling in her the appreciation of beauty in even the simplest things around us, and the gratification of capturing and sharing those images with others.
Living in beautiful coastal New England offers her an endless array of visual ideas for her paintbrush, with it's vast land and sea-scapes, vibrant sky and cloud formations, quaint towns and cottages, and brilliant flowers. Yet she especially enjoys capturing the spirit of friend's and family pets with her watercolors, and loves how they remind her of the importance of "playfulness" in our lives.
A member of the Wickford Art Association , the Newport Art Museum and the West Bay Open Studios, her watercolors have been enthusiastically embraced at local art festivals, and other gallery venues.
She can be found most days painting in her sunny loft-style studio at the old Lafayette Mills in North Kingstown, Rhode Island.
