Pet's Story or Bio
Hazel was found on the streets of LA by a Forte volunteer in 2004 and bounced from foster homes to a kennel to a placement until I volunteered to foster the neediest Forte dog in October 2004 and they gave me Hazel. I adopted her a week later. With training and bonding, she became a star, popular with everyone who met her. Smart, energetic, beautiful with an unusual creamy vanilla/black brindle, fiercely protective yet very friendly, she won over the most hardened anti-AmStaff bias or fear. Everybody loved Hazel. She triumphed until September 3, 2019 when her body could no longer support her fierce spirit and the excruciating decision was made to relieve her from her physical failings when she would never give up lest she let her owner down. At almost 17 years old, she outlived her life expectancy by many years. This photo was taken of her in 2012 and is a favorite, Hazel at her most focused self with the uncanny wherewithal she possessed. Hazel is a Forte success story, one forged from a rejected dog being given another chance against all odds and what Forte stands for. Hazel was a dog of the year for any year-a total winner. Thank you, Forte.
