Comments/Description/Why Your Husky or Husky Mix Photo Should WinOur little Husky mix puppy Kalani is such a joy. We’ve rescued 6 adult Husky’s, and now a baby. She came to us from Flagstaff, AZ via a friend who is my contact for rescues. She was timid at 5 weeks. Not knowing her background, we’ve just given her love, and kept her with us everywhere we go. Now, at 10 weeks, she’s a very energetic happy puppy who loves life. We picked some apples yesterday from a wild tree that grows by a lake near us. And she was determined to help us! 😄
Rescue Shout OutHusky’s are the most beautiful dogs. I’m sure that’s why people want to buy them. But, they have very special needs for 12 to 16 years. And I don’t think people understand this when they buy them. Most of all they need to feel like they are a part of a pack, and to get plenty of exercise.
Because they are so very intelligent, they can’t stand to be shut up in a crate, house, or small back yard for hours at a time. Especially by themselves. That breaks my heart. People get angry with them when they tear things up, and dig holes. As well as their amazing intelligence about how to escape their confinement's.
They have a high maintenance coat. Which people sometimes do not like to care for. We love brushing all 7 of ours. And we specifically bought six acres so that our dogs have plenty of room to run and play if we aren’t taking them for a run in the forest, or a swim in the lake.
I do wish people would do their homework before they buy or rescue a Husky. They, just like any other dog, deserve the best. Most of our adult dogs have heartbreaking stories in their past. But, all are VERY happy and well rounded now. And we truly love each one of them.
