Comments/Description/Why Your Husky or Husky Mix Photo Should Win
This is my precious girl, Neyla Baby. I guess I should include few quick facts about her... So, here goes. Her name is pronounced "knee-luh," and she got that unique name from a football stadium. She's 2-years-old, and if I had to sum her up in one word, I'd say 'diva' would do it.

My husband and I had a husky prior to Neyla. Her name was Ki'Ma, and she was a black and white instead of a red. She stayed outside, and we lived in town at the time. I loved that dog very much, and exactly 1 day before my 21st birthday, I walked outside to feed and water her. She was lying on the ground, pretty much unresponsive. We rushed her to the vet, and I wish that story had a happy ending. She died from a dose of Timek, which is used to kill coyotes. We're unsure of when she ingested it or who would have given it to her, but I was heartbroken. I didn't want another husky.

Lo and behold, along came Neyla Baby. A friend of mine tagged me in a photo of husky puppies. I was reluctant, but my husband said we should consider it. I thought I wanted another black and white, but when we went to pick the puppy up, this little red one wouldn't bug off! (Same is true to this day.)

She has taught me so much over the last two years. I am ashamed to admit that every dog I've owned prior to Neyla, I didn't perform my dog-mom duties. Instead, I passively loved them. When I brought Neyla home, I made a commitment to myself and her alike that I would care for her as she deserved. Now, I'm "that" dog owner that gets crazy looks shot their way all the time for being "over the top," as they call it.

As I read what I've wrote, I realize it doesn't exactly reflect why she deserves to win, but rather why she's so special. I hope that's enough to earn your vote... But just in case, I'll go a bit further.

Last December, she and I enrolled in formal obedience classes. (If you're a dog owner and haven't done so, I recommend it for many reasons!) Over the last 11 months, we've attended two obedience shows and qualified both times, winning fourth in our very first show. She is a therapy dog as well, providing an outlet of positivity for young children and seniors alike. She is incredibly well-mannered and has a true servant's heart, as most dogs do.

In short, I guess you could say from the outside looking in, she only deserves to win in my eyes... Meaning I probably haven't convinced you. But... Have you seen her? I mean, she's quite the looker, is she not!?

Anyway, if you've made it to this point, I hope you'll consider voting for us. Good luck to all!
