Friends of Paws in Prison is the 501(c)3 nonprofit set up to support the Paws in Prison program located in the Lockhart Correctional Facility, an all women's prison located in Lockhart, Texas. Through the Paws in Prison program the inmates learn to train and care for rescued shelter dogs from rural kill shelters, who are then available for adoption in "furever" families. Through your participation in the Friends of Paws in Prison Photo Contest, you are not only voting for the photo participants to win great prizes, but you are also supporting the dogs, the women who train them, and the folks who adopt them.
This amazing program works with a 4-way mission to:
- Rehabilitate Female Prisoners
- Save Shelter Dogs from Euthanasia
- Train a Loving Family Pet for Adoption
- Provide Communities with Productive Members of Society with Employment Skills in the Animal Welfare Industry
Your votes in the Cutest Critter Photo Contest create a ripple effect that reverberates throughout our Texas communities! Learn more about us at
