A little about me...
We adopted Freddie from the Humane Society of North Central Florida in March 2020. I had wanted a dog for years - my husband wasn't as eager but was willing to take a look. We went into PetSmart's weekly adoption event and Freddie immediately caught my husband's eye. He was curled up in the back of his crate (which had a blanket over it) and wasn't barking or wagging like all of the other dogs. He had true "sad, puppy dog eyes" and never looked up or out at all of the people walking by. My husband asked to meet Freddie and one of the volunteers got him out for us. It was love at first sight for those two. I can count on one hand how many times I've seen my husband cry in our 10 years together, and after maybe 30 seconds of petting Freddie, he looked up at me with tears in his eyes and said, "Can we get him?" We always joke that Freddie was playing my husband, because Freddie, who originally looked so sad and heartbroken, hasn't stopped smiling since we walked out of that PetSmart. It's been 3+ years of love and Freddie has made our little family whole!
