Tell us a little about your pet?
Butters is ten years old, and his absolute favorite activity is getting in the van and going to the mountains to play in the snow. He also likes jumping on the trampoline and chasing his dad on a skateboard. He loves the water too, as Philip's buddy on a paddleboard on a lake or river. Don't let his super active lifestyle fool you, though—he loves to nap and cuddle.

Tell us your pet's favorite trick or if there are any unique things that your pet can do?
Butter's greatest knack is detecting when someone is unhappy or upset, and comforting them. He will become a seventy-pound lap dog and make sure you feel better real soon.

Why should your pet be crowned the 2025 Pet Pageant Champion?
Butters was a one-year-old ball of energy at the Santa Fe Animal Shelter, needing an active life, and was a bit of a handful. He came with free dog training classes because he was on the "behavioral watchlist." On the last day of the class, his new dad brought Butter's dog bed, hoping to teach him to "go lie in your bed," which he learned well. Now, after a walk when he's hungry for food, he rushes to his dog bed and stares intently at Dad, letting him know that it's meal time. For a super hyper dog, learning to come when called was a huge challenge, but he's grown into the most obedient, helpful, and loving companion. He probably doesn't care much about winning, but would love for the world to see how much fun and love he is capable of sharing.
