The Kiwanis Club of Edinboro has been serving the Edinboro community since 1986, with a focus on programs for young children. Here are some of our activities.
Literacy
- Members read to five local pre-school classes each month. Books are left with the classes to keep.
- Free libraries are maintained in the town laundromats and in the shopping mall. Children can take books to read and keep.
- Dictionaries are distributed to third graders in five area elementary schools.
Gifts For Kids
The Kiwanis Club coordinates an effort to provide Christmas gifts to the approximately 200 children served by the local food pantry. With help from the Knights of Columbus and several area churches, each child receives the toys they've been hoping for, a handmade wooden toy, and books.
Fun Activities
- An annual Trunk-or-Treat offers a safe, fun environment for all the children of the community to enjoy Halloween.
- Kids Day provides games and projects for children ages 3-10, and a summer fun activity program provides entertaining and educational projects for children when they aren't in school.
Recognition
- Citizenship awards are presented to the best high school students, and the Edinboro Kiwanis Foundation gives scholarships to outstanding high school seniors.
- Teachers Honoring Teachers is a program that recognizes the special teachers in area elementary, middle and high schools.
Support
The Kiwanis Club supports local shelters and youth athletic teams, as well as the scholarship programs of Kiwanis International and the Pennsylvania District of Kiwanis.
Fundraising
Money to support these year-long activities is raised through an annual summer duck race, a fall rose sale ….
And great projects like this one!
We appreciate your support!
