As Canada's voice for animal welfare, the
Canadian Federation of Humane Societies drives positive, progressive change to end animal cruelty, improve animal protection and promote the humane treatment of all animals.
With the support of our donors, members and sponsors, we have earned our reputation of being the leader on critical issues that impact animal welfare in Canada. Our commitment to reducing companion animal overpopulation is reflected in our accomplishments to increase adoption and decrease euthanasia while supporting homeless cats in Canada and ending the suffering of thousands of dogs trapped in puppy mills.
In addition to working to ensure the vigorous prosecution of animal abusers, we collaborate proactively with provincial and federal bodies to improve the legal framework governing animals. As a founding member of the National Farm Animal Care Council (NFACC), we play a crucial role in securing increased animal welfare for Canadian farm animals, and bringing an end to painful practices and intensive confinement on farms.
Every day, the CFHS is driven by one constant goal – to build a humane Canada.
