With a nod to her Mexican heritage, Malaya chose a work by Frida Kahlo, a well-known Mexican painter, famous for her self-portraits. Kahlo also used nature in her paintings, and Malaya certainly enjoys nature with long hikes in the woods. This pose needed an animal peering over Malaya’s shoulder, so her dog “Bird” obliged, while her cat jumped off her other shoulder before the camera clicked. Malaya has always been creative and visited The Art Garage at just three months old! She’s been part of two live concerts there…one a solo show when she was seven.
