Since 1988, Doberman Rescue Unlimited, Inc. (DRU) has been a beacon of hope for abused, abandoned, and unwanted Dobermans. As a nonprofit and charitable organization, our mission is to rescue these incredible dogs and place them in safe, loving homes. We strive to inform the public about the unique nature of Dobermans and the importance of responsible, humane animal care.
Our beautiful shelter, nestled in a serene country setting, was thoughtfully designed to cater to the specific needs of our Dobermans. We provide spacious roomettes and runs, several large fenced in yards, a fully equipped medical room with a bathing center, and on-site laundry facilities, ensuring that each dog receives the highest level of care. Our attached year-round training facility allows us to work with our rescues in all seasons, helping them become well-adjusted and ready for their forever homes.
Over the years, DRU has rescued thousands of Dobermans, extending our reach beyond our primary service areas of New England and New York/New Jersey. We've welcomed Dobes from all across the United States, and even from countries as far as Egypt, Kuwait, Puerto Rico, and Mexico. Currently, we have over 40 dogs in our care, each waiting for their forever home.
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, we operate solely through the generosity of our supporters. We receive no federal, state, or affiliate agency funding, relying instead on donations, fund-raising activities, and membership dues. Every contribution helps us continue our life-saving work and provides these deserving dogs with a second chance at a happy life.
Thank you for being a part of our journey and for helping us give these beautiful souls the love and care they deserve.
