A little about me...
When Mr. Schmeezenbocker came to us as a kitten in 2013, his nocturnal ways initially created chaos in our household. Luckily, 10 -year-old Dan stepped in to be his "dad" and made keeping Mr. Schmeez happy his number one goal. He and Mr. Schmeez grew up together and became inseparable. Mr. Schmeez was very food-motivated and loved snacks of all kinds, which Dan willingly indulged. (This included whipped cream, beef jerky, chipotle chicken...you name it. Mr. Schmeez always seemed to have a hankering for spicy food.) Mr. Schmeez was kind to all of our other animals and known for his docile and sweet personality. When he was diagnosed with diabetes in 2022, 19-year-old Dan became even more protective of his beloved cat. He scheduled his life around the insulin shots and went to great lengths to monitor Mr. Schmeez's diet. (Mr. Schmeez was the most contrary patient our vet had ever seen-when his food supply became limited, he went to great lengths to indulge himself. He climbed the kitchen cupboards and opened them to get to the dog treats, ate remnants off dirty dishes in the sink, and he swiped sandwiches off our plates...there was no stopping him.) Mr. Schmeez died of heart failure in June 2024, in the arms of his beloved Dan. He left a lasting impression on all of us.
