A little about me...
My name is Mia. I also have a middle name, Aolani, which means 'heavenly cloud'. My mama thinks it fits me perfectly. She and daddy adopted me from a cat rescue when I was about 5 1/2 months old; I was born in July 2007. I reached out of my cage to grab mama as she walked by. I knew as soon as I saw her that she was mine, and I was right!

Just after turning 10, in July 2017, I was diagnosed with diabetes. I came close to remission a couple of years in but never quite made it. In early 2022, I was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease. I have some arthritis in my lower back, and I have had all of my teeth removed due to a history of resorption. My belly is also pretty sensitive, so mama has to work hard to find foods for me that meet all of my needs and won't bother my belly. I'm really a sensitive girl overall; I can get scared pretty easily and vet visits stress me out more and more as I get older. Mama says that I'm the sweetest cat she has ever known and that I'm a soft and pretty princess kitty. She is always thanking me for being such a good girl because I cooperate with all of the things she does to take care of me, like glucose testing, insulin shots and subcutaneous fluids.

I love being petted or brushed and getting belly rubs. I am good at making biscuits and burrowing under mama's blanket. My house has great windows for watching everything that goes on outside, especially with the birds and squirrels. Daddy calls it my TV. In spite of my health issues, I'm a happy girl. Taking care of me is a lot of work and expense, but mama says that I'm her precious baby, and I'm worth it.
