I cannot even articulate how much my beautiful girl means to me. Skye found me when I went to the Humane Society to donate some food and medications from my previous cat, Demosthenes, whom I had just lost. The attendant opened her cage and she literally jumped into my arms. Eleven years later and she has been there ever since. I was devastated by the loss of my cat but Skye and a tiny tuxie I found at the same time healed my heart. Skye and Keiko filled that gaping hole with kitty snuggles and purrs. The two of them saw me through a number of moves, the end of my marriage, and the loss of my father. Last year we lost Keiko and once again her love got me through. She cuddles up with me and demands pets, letting me know all about it until things are just better. She has been so good to me. This year she was diagnosed with diabetes and it was my turn to do something for her. I would not trade a minute of those sleepless nights testing and making sure she got everything she needed. She was so sweet, curling up on me after I had poked her so many times because I could not get a good blood sample. She patiently allowed me to inject insulin into her then just as patiently allowed me to fuss over her to make sure she was doing well after the injection. My sugar cat is the absolute definition of sweet. I have been rewarded with seeing her fur become more lustrous and her activity level increase. She is starting to become more playful again. She isn’t quite to the level of jumping from the cat tree to my arms, but the sentiment is still there. I love you my Skye girl!
