Sunshine is my sixth diabetic, and I adopted her in February of 2016. She is around 14 years old. Sunshine was Diabetic Cats in Need’s last foster cat, as the foster program had been discontinued. She was in DCIN’s foster program for 3 years (in two foster homes). Despite being heartbroken over my recent losses, I knew she was meant to be my cat. I flew to Virginia in February last year to take her home to San Francisco.
There can’t be a cat with a more appropriate name than Sunshine. She is the Sunshine of my life, so the song goes! She has such a quizzical look on her face that is adorable. She loves to snuggle in bed with me. Other cats I have had started in the bed but left when I fell asleep. When I went to get her, I slept in the room her foster had her in, and she had to come snuggle-the first day she met me. Sunshine doesn’t usually talk to me but when she does, I listen! Sunny has a cute little dance with her feet that she does, and her tail quivers like she is spraying but she isn’t. She is very photogenic, but at first she was a bit camera shy. She now humors me and actually poses! When I kiss her head and pet her, she drools a waterfall. She is so happy being loved! She would love for me to stay home all the time. She does play with fishing pole toys, but has some vision loss due to high blood pressure. It has gotten better with treatment. She also does a lot of what her name suggests, sunbathing!! Sunny is such a special cat, and I thank DCIN’s fosters for saving her. Please vote for Sunshine my little girl, and thank DCIN for saving her!!
