How long have the animals been a part of your family? Give some interesting information about the animal(s) in the photo that will encourage others to vote for your photo.
Chipz is my very first diabetic cat. He first came to our home as a foster cat for Humane Society of Harrisburg Area, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Found outside by a good samaritan, his diabetes was diagnosed by the shelter. This gentle giant then spent six months in a shelter cage waiting for someone to take a chance on him. Thankfully, his easy going purr-sonality allowed a complete novice as myself to give insulin shots and test his blood glucose. After enduring multiday hunger strikes and a stubborn urinary tract infection, I am happy to report that Chipz is now in diet controlled remission. He no longer requires daily Vetsulin insulin. This big, yellow marshmallow cat was officially adopted by our family in January 2016. Please give a special thank you to shelters like the Humane Society of Harrisburg Area that choose to treat incoming cats with diabetes. Be Someone's Hero, Adopt a Shelter Cat.
