How long have the animals been a part of your family? Give some interesting information about the animal(s) in the photo that will encourage others to vote for your photo.
Hello, My name is Tigger and I just recently crossed the Rainbow Bridge, and I would like to be the cover for DCIN's calendar.
I have quite the story which starts when my Momma was starving and Pregnant with me. Momma was looking for a home for us and she found a nice guy to take us in. She put me on his patio and Meowed for him to take us in. I was the only kitten left and she wanted to save her boy. So, being an only Kitten i was trained to hunt by the best hunter there is, my Momma.
By the age of 2 I was diagnosed with Diabetes, and we were given 1-2 years by the old school vet we saw. Well, we didn't like that answer so we fought it and decided we weren't ready to end our Journey just yet. We looked for help and found DCIN. By the age of 5 I was diagnosed with Acromegaly which is a tumor on the pituitary gland that causes too much growth hormone and acts like super diabetes. I was up to 24 lbs of muscle and 92 units of insulin twice a day and climbing.
So, my dad put me in the car and drove me 1000 miles to Colorado to have the Tumor zapped with radiation.
Unfortunately with Acromegaly everything grows very large, including tumors. A year ago I had a grapefruit sized pancreatic cyst removed. It was HUGE! With the help of a fantastic surgeon I survived and we continued trucking along on our Journey. Unfortunately, living 7 years with Acro and diabetic conditions caused issues with my kidneys and we fought very hard and fought right to the end. I crossed the Rainbow Bridge on Sept 14 2015 just after my 9th birthday.
DCIN has been with me and has helped me all the way on our journey. I would not have made it 9 years without their assistance. Please vote for me to be the Cover, it would mean the world to me and my dad.
