How long have the animals been a part of your family? Give some interesting information about the animal(s) in the photo that will encourage others to vote for your photo.
Tiger was our 6-million dollar barn cat... She was dropped off at the barn when she was a tiny kitten. We raised and cared for her, and took her with us when we moved our horses to another barn years later. After she was diagnosed with Feline Diabetes (and Hyper-Thyroid) at 12 years old, she thought that it was the best thing ever – since she got to come home and be a pampered house cat for the rest of her life. (We ultimately lost her to Squamous Cell Carcinoma.) Like most people, when she was first diagnosed I was worried about what her quality of life was going to be with injections twice a day, glucose testing, and all the other changes. I shouldn’t have worried. This is one of my favorite photos of her – being a poster kitty for “Feline Diabetes Quality Of Life”. When I took this photo of her (very) enthusiastically playing with her favorite giant “nip stick”, Tiger was 15 years old, and she had been an insulin dependent diabetic for 3 years . :)
