This is Morrison who just turned 15, I adopted him when he was 9 months old. In 2011 when he was 12 years old he started losing a lot of weight and losing his ability to jump because his back legs were so weak, along with other symptoms. We went to the vet and his blood sugar was over 500!! We started a new diet and insulin immediately and within 1 week his legs were completely back to normal and he was back to his old feisty, happy self. He loved his new diet and was the easiest cat to give shots to. By 6 weeks he was completely regulated and was able to come off the insulin and the vet said she never saw a cat get regulated so fast! He has stayed regulated for the past 3 years just because of his new high protein diet. I spent hours and hours over the years researching cat food trying to find the healthiest foods for him to eat and he has tried so many different brands and flavors and had been so accomodating. If anyone ever had to have diabetes, Morrison was the perfect cat for it. He was so easy going about getting shots, so happy to try new foods and stick with them and got healthy so, so fast. He's now perfectly happy and healthy and I'm proud that we have done so well and that I've become an expert on feline diabetes. I think if every owner with a diabetic cat took the time to learn about food and got their cat on the proper diet, most cats would be able to come off insulin. Morrison is an inspiration to anyone helping a diabetic cat because he is proof that hard work, research, commitment and love can get any cat back to wonderful health!
