When I saw photos of someone's "whoops" breeding of a Maine Coon and Scottish Fold, I instantly fell in love with baby Donovan. His poor mom needed a c-section, and first-born Donovan was pronounced dead at birth. The breeder resuscitated him and he became my big sweet lovable Captain Donny -- extra sweet after being diagnosed with diabetes when he was 13. We made it through that frightening challenge and I was able to get him off insulin and into diet-controlled remission with the help of an amazing support group for diabetic cats. He suddenly became ill with cancer and quickly made the journey to the Bridge a few months shy of his 16th birthday. He was truly one of a kind.
Donovan introduced me to the world of sugarcats, and in March of 2013 I fostered and later adopted a diabetic cat named Amour from a local shelter promoted by DCIN.
