Dachshund Adoption Rescue and Education, Inc. (DARE) views its mission as increasing public awareness against animal cruelty and overpopulation while rescuing and re-homing displaced and unwanted dachshunds and dachshund mix dogs primarily throughout the North Central region of the state of Florida, in the Continental Unites States.
We do this by:- Rescuing and socializing abandoned, neglected, abused, orphaned and/or surrendered dachshunds and dachshund mixes by providing temporary safe shelter and medical/dental treatments as needed.
- Procuring temporary foster homes and permanent new homes for rescued dachshunds that will provide a safe and nurturing home environment.
- Ensuring no dachshund shall be adopted for the purposes of breeding or scientific/medical experimentation.
- Providing education to the public on the dachshund breed, puppy mills, and responsible pet guardianship including, but not limited to, humane animal care and spay/neuter practices.
- Displaying courtesy, respect and fellowship toward all volunteers in appreciation of services and support rendered to dachshund rescue and to promoting enhanced teamwork among all rescuers.

A little about me...
Milo was a street stray, surviving as best he could when picked up by animal control. His teeth were so rotten that they all needed to be pulled. He also has tumors in both ears and is mostly deaf. He probably never had attention, treats, or toys. In foster care, he has blossomed. He follows foster mom around, frequently reminding her when it is time for meals by barking and pawing her foot. He treasures his toys, often talking to them as he rolls on them. He is a long hair chiweenie and the perfect lap dog. He will make someone a loving loyal companion.
