Dachshund Adoption Rescue and Education, Inc. (DARE) views its mission as increasing public awareness against animal cruelty and overpopulation while rescuing and re-homing displaced and unwanted dachshunds and dachshund mix dogs primarily throughout the North Central region of the state of Florida, in the Continental Unites States.

We do this by:

  1. Rescuing and socializing abandoned, neglected, abused, orphaned and/or surrendered dachshunds and dachshund mixes by providing temporary safe shelter and medical/dental treatments as needed.
  2. Procuring temporary foster homes and permanent new homes for rescued dachshunds that will provide a safe and nurturing home environment.
  3. Ensuring no dachshund shall be adopted for the purposes of breeding or scientific/medical experimentation.
  4. Providing education to the public on the dachshund breed, puppy mills, and responsible pet guardianship including, but not limited to, humane animal care and spay/neuter practices.
  5. Displaying courtesy, respect and fellowship toward all volunteers in appreciation of services and support rendered to dachshund rescue and to promoting enhanced teamwork among all rescuers.

A little about me...
Henlo! My name is Finneas but most people just call me Finn. I was born on the 2nd of March in 2022. I am a Piebald Dachshund and was adopted through PuppySpot. I was welcomed into my furever home with my Dad and my "Buddy" (who is my great-grandfather) in early May 2022. My dad adopted me after his first Dachshund, Shrek, passed away from Congestive Heart Failure. Dad suffers from multiple mental health afflictions and has found great comfort in a furry four-legged friend - especially of the sausage variety! My "Buddy" is a permanently disabled Vietnam Veteran having served 10 years in the Navy. Dad lives with "Buddy" after "Buddy's" wife, Rae, passed away in 2017. I never got to meet my great-grandma, but my dad says she was an amazing lady. I help my dad while he helps "Buddy" with day-to-day activities. I also love my "Dramma" (dad's mom). She is a nice lady who showers me with so much love and presents. She calls me "Rip" because I am super excitable and am restless. My dad, "Buddy," and me like to go RVing with our camping group. I love meeting new people. Dad and "Buddy" love to take trips, especially to the beach. I haven't had the chance to go yet, but I will be going in June for the first time! Once I'm of age, I will be registered as an Emotional Support Animal for my Dad. I am looking forward to many adventures with my Dad, "Buddy," and "Dramma." Thanks for reading my story and please give a vote to support DARE!
