Our first dachshund pasted away from cancer. My husband did not want another because he was too heart broken, however our chocolate lab was devastated. He wined all day and night, needed our attention all the time. I went on Dachshund Rescue of South Fl and saw Penelope. We were approved and headed to get her during Tropical Storm Eta. Heavy rain made the 4 hour trip 7 hours; flooding everywhere in Fort Lauderdale. The dog park we were meeting at was flooded and ended up in a parking lot for the meet/greet and exchange. God was on our side because the rain stopped for the 20 min we were getting to know her. At home Mako was happy to have a sister. They played all night and she was a little ball of energy and we knew our little storm name should be Eta.
