Big Al spent about the first 8 years of his life trapped in an animal hoarding situation, and then an additional 8/9 months in a shelter. He was infested with mange, had poorly healed broken ribs, and had severe dental problems. Prior to meeting him, we were warned that he wasn't going to be very friendly and may try to bite. HOW WRONG WERE THEY! That day, Big Al chose us. He fell asleep in our arms and instantly filled us with love. Today, Big Al rocks the streets of NYC and lives a life of luxury. He's learned multiple tricks (oh yes, as an "old dog") and has made tons of friends! It's difficult for me fathom that his incredible individuality went unnoticed for so long..But just look at him now! Happy, adventurous, and loving. Every day I thank my lucky stars that Big Al chose us. <3
