Fun Facts
Max was an outside dog who was left to roam. He would regularly be found wandering the highway, narrowly escaping a terrible fate, yet he was still left outside. His family moved across the country and left him behind. Max walked 7 miles into Delhi in December and started scratching at a window of Maquoketa Valley High School while the kids were in class. The mother of one of the kids in that classroom took Max to a local rescue where he was adopted by his foster parents. Max has 3 fur-siblings and he has settled in wonderfully to being an inside dog with free roam of the house!
Max also has a very rare eye - the top half is blue and the bottom half is brown! Plus, his unique coloring makes him look as if he is wearing a saddle!
Max's love for children is amazing, as he gravitates to every child he meets and just lights up in their presence! This wonderful boy is a blessing to our family!
Quirkiest Quirks
If you don't spend enough time outside in the morning with Max to go potty, you will bring out the husky in him! His howls will echo through the house, as he scolds you for allowing yourself the time to shower or go to the bathroom!
While Max has been great about not chewing things while he is home alone, he has decided it's pretty fun to jump all the way up on the countertops and throw treats down to his fur-siblings. Mom made the mistake last week of leaving a few dirty plastic plates in the sink while she was gone for about an hour, and Max thought he would get a headstart on the dishes by jumping on the counter and throwing all the plates down on the floor for "pre-wash." His training is still a work in progress!
He also enjoys turning his fur-brother's butt into a pillow whenever he can! Luckily, the other dogs sharing the house with Max are pretty tolerant of him being the alpha, and the new baby to the bunch!
Summer Faves
Max is an adrenaline junky and likes to ride on anything you offer him! His favorites so far are the golf cart and jet ski! The boaters of Lake Delhi get quite a kick out of seeing Max come around the corner on the jet ski with his ears straight up and tongue hanging out, blowing in the wind! He "smiles" at everyone he passes as they point to him and say, "Is that a dog?! That's awesome!"
He also truly enjoys chasing squirrels and rabbits around his yard. Luckily, they always outrun him, but we don't think that is going to make him quit his pursuit!
Max will continue speeding around the lake on his jet ski and visiting the neighbors on his golf cart! Once he gets bored with those, his parents may have to look into some more fun toys for this sweet, previously homeless, wonderful boy!
