The mission of the Cheyenne Animal Shelter is to enhance the quality of life for animals and people through compassion, respect and education. Founded in 1970, the Cheyenne Animal Shelter provides a safety net to animals in need in our community and beyond. Each year, we provide shelter and care to nearly 6,000 animals, helping them find their new beginnings in new loving homes or working to protect happy and healthy relationships.
Our open-admission,
socially conscious shelter provides care to any animal who comes to our facility. Open seven days a week, the Cheyenne Animal Shelter readily accepts community animals as owner surrenders, stray pets, and transferred animals. The Transfer program enables us to offer a greater variety of animals to our adoption clients. The placement rates of our adoption program ensure our doors are open to thousands of transfer animals seeking placement from overcrowded and under-served shelters in our state and region.
The Cheyenne Animal Shelter's Medicine Fund provides critical services to ensure the health and well-being of every shelter animal.
The Cheyenne Animal Shelter is a private, nonprofit organization that relies on donations from our generous supporters. We are not owned or operated by the City of Cheyenne or Laramie County. However, we have contractual arrangements with both to provide animal care and control services.
