A little about this image...Banksia spinulosa flower-spikes may contain hundreds or even thousands of individual flowers. This is a close-up of some of the buds on one flower spike. I was struck by the similarity between this image and a piece of machinery. Others have been struck by the similarity to a piece of knitting, or weaving, or velcro.
