A little about this image...The Dead Sea lies at the end of the Jordan river, between the state of Israel and the kingdom of Jordan. It is the world lowest spot, and the sea level is getting lower and lower at a high rate. Reasons include evaporation, diversion of incoming water for agriculture and industrial plants. One outcome is huge, hazardous sinkholes. The image is part of a series showing the former IDF base in Ein Gedi, which was abandoned due to sinkholes, as well as the previous route of Highway 90, which had to be rebuilt around the danger zone.
